In the picture, we see a social housing unit which we built for social and economical marginalized especially those displaced by Boko Haram attacks in northern Nigeria. This build was funded by SELAVIP, ETEX GROUP, NIGERITE, KING BOURDAIN FOUNDATION and SAID. It is waiting commisioning and handover to the beneficiaries. In 2012, we provided 45 rooms for very poor people in owerri, Ogbaku, Naze, Mbaise and Nekede.

With nearly 1 billion people around the world eking out a living in urban slums, world leaders set a specific target in the Millennium Declaration aimed at alleviating their plight. The world is fast urbanizing. More and more people leave villages and farms to live in cities, rapid urban growth with its attendant complex problems results. The 2005 Revision of the UN World Urbanization Prospects Reported that the global proportion of urban population rose dramatically from 13% (220 million) in 1900, to 29% (732 million) in 1950, to 49% (3.2 billion) in 2005 is real. The same Report projected that the figure is likely to rise to 60% (4.9 billion) by 2030. According to the UN State of the World Population 2007 Report, the majority of people worldwide will be living in towns or cities, for the first time in history; this is referred to as the arrival of the "Urban Millennium" or the 'tipping point'.

In regard to future trends, it is estimated that 93% of urban growth will occur in developing nations, with 80% of urban growth occurring in Africa. The United Nation's Habitat World established the World Urban Forum to examine one of the most pressing problems facing the world today: rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies, policies and climate change. Already more than half the global population lives in towns and cities, and projections now show that cities will be home to two-thirds of humanity in little over a generation from now.

This means we have to plan our cities better, ensure sound urban legislation and governance, and improve basic service delivery and housing. At the same time, we have to save energy harder than ever before, conserve our environment, reduce pollution and tackle the urban dimension of climate change very seriously. We need to coordinate these actions and resources for smarter, more livable, less wasteful cities of the future. We owe it to future generations and we owe it especially to the estimated 1 billion people living in slums and other sub-standard housing around the world. All cities in the world face this challenge. Nigeria and Imo state face it too.

Given that Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa, with many people quickly moving into urban areas, it comes as no surprise that nearly 15 million people there are in need of improved housing. It is in this light that we are engaging to contribute in addressing this challenge. In this area we provide information to prospective individuals or families needing accommodation, to house owners having houses to rent, prospective individuals and families having land to sale and those looking for land to buy within Owerri Urban. In this way, we try to reduce the actions of land and housing speculators that have made housing within Owerri one of the most expensive and difficult to find in Nigeria. Have you a housing need?
