SpringAid International Development (SAID Nigeria), in partnership with Nigerite and SELAVIP, is implementing a housing project for poor and marginalized urban dwellers in Okuku, Owerri.
The project is now entering its second stage: the installation of the houses using Dry Construction Building Method. This innovative approach reduces water usage and environmental impact while providing strong, durable, and modern homes. The project uses Nigerite’s Kalsi building materials, designed to provide practical and sustainable building solutions.
Since 2010, SAID Nigeria has worked with partners to provide free and decent housing for homeless and vulnerable people. We believe that housing is a fundamental human right and that no one should be forced to live in unsafe or dehumanizing conditions.
Beyond constructing homes, SAID works with communities to promote housing rights, strengthen residents’ voices, develop practical skills, and advocate for improved living conditions.
Through partnerships and community action, we continue to work toward a future where vulnerable families can have a safe, dignified place to call home.
Together, we can build communities where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and hope.

We are excited to inform you that our social housing programme is resuming. Several factors caused the delay in the execution of this intervention. What we are erecting is climate smart building. It is a combination of Calsi materials and wood. It is perhaps the first of its kind in the state. Thank you Etex Group for the material donations through Nigerite and Emenite. In the video, three trailer loads of materials have been dispatched and recieved with much appreciation. Our founder, Revd Fr Dr Chikezie Onuoha has been a great drive and inspiration in ensuring that all obstacles are removed. He is a great visioner and strategist.
