Next Leaders’ Training
The future of Africa depends on young people who are prepared to lead with integrity, responsibility and a strong understanding of democratic values.
The Next Leaders’ Training project was designed to bring together 58 young people from Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon for leadership development and training in democratic culture.
Today, more than ever, developing countries need leaders who understand and appreciate the principles that make democracy work. Effective leadership requires more than ambition—it requires knowledge, integrity, accountability, respect for others and a commitment to serving the wider community.
Investing in the Leaders of Tomorrow
Young people represent a significant part of Africa’s population and have an important role to play in shaping the future of their communities and countries. However, young people need opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence required to take on leadership responsibilities.
Through practical training, mentorship and engagement, the Next Leaders’ Training project seeks to help young people develop the capacity to become effective, responsive and responsible leaders.
Participants are encouraged to understand the importance of democratic participation, good governance, accountability and responsible citizenship.
Building Leadership Capacity
The training provides an opportunity for young people from different countries and backgrounds to learn from one another, exchange ideas and develop a broader understanding of leadership and democracy across Africa.
By equipping young people with practical leadership skills and democratic values, the project aims to contribute to the development of a new generation of leaders who can positively influence their communities and participate meaningfully in public life.
A Generation Ready to Lead
Leadership development is an investment in the future.
When young people are given the right knowledge, skills and opportunities, they can become powerful agents of positive change in their communities.
The Next Leaders’ Training is therefore more than a training programme. It is an investment in young people and in the future of democratic leadership across Africa.
58 young people. 3 countries. One shared vision: developing responsible leaders for a stronger democratic future.
