2013 theme: Bridging the gaps to reach the Millennium Development Goals

SpringAid International in its fight to end poverty and abuses of human dignity identifies the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights as vital instruments for the realization of the dreams that most people of goodwill aspire to. Therefore, we disseminate UN information to our local groups in our own context. We speak out to protect and promotes our fundamental human rights.

The United Nations General Assembly, on 22 December 2005, observed that solidarity is one of the fundamental values that should underpin the interactions between people in the Twenty-first century, and in that regard proclaim 20 December of each year as International Human Solidarity Day.

As a follow up, on 20 December 2002, it established the World Solidarity Fund, which was set up in February 2003 as a trust fund of the United Nations Development Programme. The fund’s objective is to eradicate poverty and promote human and social development in developing countries, in particular among the poorest segments of their populations.

We call on all people of goodwill especially young people to use their energy, innovation, courage and sincerity in the fight for a life of dignity for every Nigerian. Let us stand in solidarity with thousand of Nigerians that are forced to live in abject poverty by the oppression of our leaders, oppressive structures and those who control capital in our nation. Let join hand to bring sustainable social change for our people.
