BREAK THE SILENCE ON HIV/AIDS IN YOUR COMMUNITY

The 2014 International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014) put the eradication of stigma and discrimination on its agenda, with its slogan “no one left behind” ensuring that non-discrimination is adhered to in the HIV response. The use of specific HIV, AIDS and sexual reproduction education programmes that emphasize the rights of people living with HIV is a well-documented way of eradicating stigma. As well as being made aware of their rights, people living with HIV can be empowered in order to take action if these rights are violated.

WORLD AIDS DAY - December 1st 2015 AT ACHINGALI OBOWO

Despite all the progress made towards the fight against HIV/AIDS, a lot of misinformation and poor awareness still surround the epidemic. Every December 1st the global community marks World AIDS Day. It is a day that is used to unite individuals and communities in the fight against HIV, identified in 1984 to show support for people living with HIV and remember those who have died of this virus. HIV/AIDS has continued as one of the world's greatest health challenges especially in poor, low and middle income countries.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

World leaders are gathering in New York this weekend to adopt the 17 sustainable development goals 2030 on 27 September. Ending poverty is the first of the SDGs. Poverty still dehumanizes millions of people in the world. In Nigeria poverty holds sway, in the midst of plenty. It has been massive, pervasive, and engulfs a large proportion of Nigerians. Household unemployment and poverty has remained a dominant feature in Nigeria. Over 66% of the population of Nigeria are living in poverty.
